NI Advanced Manufacturing Supercluster – Have Your Say

GEMX members are invited to help shape the next stage of manufacturing collaboration in Northern Ireland.

Over recent months, GEMX has been working alongside MEGA and MTF to explore the feasibility of developing a Northern Ireland Advanced Manufacturing Supercluster.

The work has involved extensive engagement with manufacturers and stakeholders across the manufacturing ecosystem to understand where greater collaboration could add value and, importantly, what industry wants from a future Supercluster.

We are now inviting GEMX members and wider industry stakeholders to an online consultation workshop on Wednesday 19 August 2026, from 11.00am–12.00pm.

During the session, we will share the emerging feasibility findings and proposed roadmap and provide an opportunity for manufacturers to challenge the thinking, identify any gaps and help shape the next stage.

The proposed Supercluster is intended to build on the strengths of GEMX and the other established networks, not replace or duplicate them. By connecting manufacturers across the three networks, it could create greater scale and new opportunities for:

Cross-network peer learning and best-practice visits
Skills and workforce development
Productivity, innovation and digitalisation
Collaborative programme and project development
Access to larger UK, all-island and European funding opportunities
International partnerships and collaboration with other manufacturing clusters
A stronger collective voice and profile for Northern Ireland manufacturing
For GEMX, it is important that any future model remains industry-led, practical and focused on delivering additional value for manufacturers, while retaining the strong regional relationships and identity that make the existing networks successful.
