GEMX was proud to participate in the TCI Global Conference 2025 – “Building a Global Economy”, held from the 14th–16th October at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre. The international event, hosted by InterTradeIreland, Invest Northern Ireland, and Enterprise Ireland, brought together hundreds of delegates from across the world to explore how clusters can strengthen competitiveness, innovation, and sustainability in the global economy.

As part of the Advanced Manufacturing Cluster Tour, delegates experienced Ireland’s thriving manufacturing ecosystem through site visits to Midland Steel in Portlaoise and Irish Manufacturing Research (IMR) in Mullingar. The tour offered a deep dive into how Irish industry is embracing cutting-edge technologies such as robotics, automation, BIM integration, and zero-waste digital workflows, all aligned with national and EU climate goals.

The day’s sessions featured a strong line-up of speakers, including Tom Cusack (Enterprise Ireland), Mark Nodder (Makers Alliance), Barry Kennedy (Irish Manufacturing Research), and Tony Woods (Midland Steel), who each shared perspectives on the power of collaboration and digital transformation in driving manufacturing excellence across the island.

Gavin Killeen MBE, Managing Director of Nu Print Technologies and a lead partner for GEMX, shared insights on GEMX’s mission to strengthen collaboration between industry and education, foster innovation, and build a pipeline of future talent in the Northwest’s engineering and manufacturing sector. He also highlighted the importance of regional networks working together to showcase excellence and create opportunities for shared growth.

Other contributors included Maria Curran (MEGA Network), Frank McGrogan (Manufacturing Task Force), and Richard Jackson (Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre) — all underscoring the value of cross-border collaboration and shared learning in shaping the future of advanced manufacturing.

GEMX’s participation in the TCI Global Conference reinforces its commitment to showcasing the Northwest as a hub of engineering talent, collaboration, and industrial excellence.
