Our school visits for the MakeME Academy have begun! Education Officer Cieara Laidler has been busy going around each of the schools, with their respective partnered companies, teaching them about GEMX and the activities they will be involved with. The students have been enthusiastic and engaged throughout, asking the company reps questions and participating in discussion. We can see the positive impact that this industry link is having on the pupils already!

To the left, you can see the companies and their adopted schools. The schedule is as follows:

15th October – St Cecilia’s College & Vertiv

16th October – St Mary’s College & Nuprint Technologies

20th October – St Patrick’s and St Brigid’s College & AE Global

21st October – Scoil Mhuire & Vertiv

22nd October – Foyle College & Seagate

After these events are complete, we will then move onto our Meet the GEMs events, where students can ask our GEMs about their role and how they got started! This programme allows students to engage with people that they would not usually come across in day-to-day life. We hope to inspire and encourage young people to consider a career in the manufacturing and engineering sector.
