Between March and June, students taking part in our MakeME Academy across Derry and Donegal have the opportunity to visit their partnered company on-site and gain a first-hand understanding of how the organisation operates. We have already completed several successful visits, and the level of interest and enthusiasm from students has been consistently strong.

So far we have had:

  • St Brigid’s visit Flemings-Agri Products
  • Oakgrove College visit Foyle Port
  • St Cecilia’s College visit VERTIV
  • St Columb’s College visit The LYCRA Company

Coming up after the Easter break we have:

  • Foyle College visit Seagate
  • St Patrick’s and St Brigid’s College visit AE Global
  • Scoil Mhuire visit VERTIV
  • Carndonagh Community School visit WELDITZ
  • Lisneal College visit TEREX
  • Royal and Prior School visit Fleming Engineering
  • Lumen Christi College visit Arclin
For schools where an on‑site company visit wasn’t possible, GEMX and their partnered company delivered a GEMs Collaborate session instead. During this session, students worked in teams on a range of challenges designed to highlight the importance of teamwork and collaboration, while also giving them the opportunity to build alongside the GEMs. These sessions were very well received, with students enjoying the chance to think creatively and gaining a better understanding of how different roles contribute to an organisation.
