On April 1st, ten ambassadors from a range of companies took part in a training session led by Gerard. The session was designed to prepare them for our upcoming STEM workshops, which will be delivered in primary schools across Derry and the surrounding areas.

During the training, ambassadors had the opportunity to build simplified versions of movable models, such as electric cars and rockets. These are the same activities they will guide pupils through in schools, alongside sharing insights into their roles and the companies they represent.

The aim of these workshops is to:

  • To raise awareness of NW companies and products
  • Improve student awareness and ambitions in STEM subjects
  • Bridge the gap between education and industry
  • Bring classroom learning to life with hands-on activities,
  • Broaden students’ horizons by showcasing career paths and demonstrating the practical application of STEM.
  • Help dismantle stereotypes, particularly regarding gender and background in STEM fields.
  • Build students’ confidence and understanding of how STEM fits into their own futures.
  • Provide tangible, relatable advice, helping students make informed choices about their academic and career paths.
